History has been made for the Morpeth Bulls Junior Rugby League Club as Amaya Clarke became the first female player in our proud club’s history to play 100 games.
From the moment a determined 4-year-old marched into Morpeth in 2018 and said she wanted to play footy with the boys, Amaya has been blazing a trail for girls in rugby league.
Back then, there were only three female players in the club. Today, there are over 80 girls proudly pulling on the green, gold and pink, inspired by pioneers like Amaya, who have shown that rugby league is a game for everyone.
Across 8 seasons and now at just 11 years of age, Amaya’s dedication, leadership, and love for the “greatest game of all” have shone through. Whether in the traditional green and gold or her beloved women’s jersey, her smile and pride to be a Bull have never changed.
Yesterday, she led her U12WT team to a great win in her milestone match – a fitting way to celebrate such a phenomenal achievement.
Congratulations Amaya – your 100th game is a record that can never be taken away, and we are so proud of the path you’ve helped create for the next generation of Bulls girls.
